RIPmyNFT

Made with friends at Mossy

The NFT market has been extra spooky this year. Trading volumes have tanked, leaving us saddled with the ghastly remains of abandoned jpegs that might not turn into shares of private islands after all.

In the flesh-bound world, there is a savior in situations like these. When Blockbusters are boarded up and Circuit Cities sell their shelving, the merciful reaper of Spirit Halloween appears to resurrect their rotting corpses into costume carnivals that brighten the dusky firmament of fallen strip malls.

So we’re bringing their macabre miracle to the blockchain. Give us a dead NFT—we’ll burn it—and give you a new version that’s been graced by Spirit Halloween. It’s free, and all you have to lose is a token that gave up the ghost months ago anyway.

Oikos Cryceps

Made at Lightning Orchard with Grady Linnihan, Perry Morton, Conor Dooley, Jim Lasser, and Jeff Kling

I thought it would be cool to do a supercut of all the draftees letting the waterworks flow after getting that draft call. Made with friends at Lightning Orchard.

OscarHub

Experimenting with DeepFaceLab, MVE, Adobe After Effects, and Davinci Resolve

Normally you’d see celebs deepfaked into porn. I thought the opposite would be funny. Just playing around with Deep Fake github shit.

The Elements of F*cking Style

Co-written with my cousin, Jake Hansen.

The best-selling English grammar guide for the modern student.

Every English language writer knows The Elements of Style. But in today’s society, writers are few and far between. One glance at Twitter or Facebook will tell you everything you need to know about the current status of the English language. We’ve replaced clarity with speed and intelligence with like, stupidity, you know? To call us writers would be tantamount to perjury, and asking the huddled masses to read something as dry as an English grammar guide is clearly asking too much. And so it was out of this truth that The Elements of Fucking Style was born. It serves to fill the gap between philosopher and the common ape; to help enlighten and educate, but also entertain. Grammar has never before been so much fucking fun.

Published by St. Martin’s Press—this helpful little book has sold over 25,000 copies.

Dear Fitness Industry

Made with Jesse Suchmann and Jesse Snyder. It's Jesses all the way down.

Degree wanted to make some noise in the industry about inclusivity, so we decided to craftily call out companies like Peloton with ads and stunts right in front of their main offices. Three bronze Clios, and a few other PR awards. Made with friends while freelancing at Edelman.

USDTea

USDTea

Made with friends at Mossy

USDTea is the first stablecoin backed by cans of AriZona Iced Tea. To stabilize the troubled cryptocurrency ecosystem, we’ve introduced a new token backed by a hard asset that has maintained the same price for over 30 years: AriZona Iced Tea.

While other stablecoins attempt to peg to dollar amounts through questionable algorithms or opaque investment strategies, we guarantee our liquidity with sweet, delicious liquid.

Lots of press

Blockedchain

Made with friends at Mossy

For discerning trolls, getting blocked on Twitter is a badge of honor. But the only way to brag about it is by posting a screenshot. Enter the revolutionary, world-saving magic of Web3.

Blockedchain is a new kind of NFT that commemorates notable blocks on Twitter. Log in with Twitter, prove that you’re blocked by one of our chosen accounts, and we’ll mint you a commemorative NFT free of charge. With this cryptographically verified token, distributed across a ledger maintained by millions of computers consuming gigawatts of electricity, you can finally prove you’ve reached the hallowed echelon of people Gary Vaynerchuck doesn’t want to hear from.

The supply of these tokens is unknown. We can verify whether someone has been blocked by an account, but we have no way to tell how many people in total an account has blocked. Is Wendy’s more rare than Smash Mouth? Does the CIA even block? Could Elon Musk go on a blocking spree tomorrow and cause a rapid and catastrophic inflationary event triggering disastrous fluctuations in the worldwide price of grain? Only future economists will know, shaking their heads as they toss their copies of The Wealth of Nations atop the smoldering slag heap.

So log in. Mint your block. And be immortalized.

Google

Made with friends at Google, B-reel, Droga5, and more.

I’ve worked at Google off and on internally—from the Creative Lab to elsewhere, internally—and at a lot of random agencies—externally—who happen to work on Google. Everything from film to helping name new products to writing privacy policy pages, sigh. Anyway, here’s some stuff, produced and un-produced, that I like.

Dashlane

Made at Lightning Orchard with Paige Whitaker, Conor Dooley, Jim Lasser, and the legendary Jeff Kling

Dashlane is a password manager that wants you to be more random in life. Made with friends at Lightning Orchard.

Tablet Hotels

Made with Blaise Cepis, Connor Dooley, and Jeff Kling. Art by kerpy

Yes, “This Must be the Place” is a Talking Heads reference. Anyway, these are cute and I like the art. Made with friends at Lightning Orchard.

An interactive video that lets you journey through space, time, and music, itself. Radio broadcasts leave Earth at the speed of light and travel outwards into space. As you move farther away from our planet—the closer you’ll get to older broadcasts—and the older the music you would hear. So venturing out into space is kind of like moving backwards through time—and the entire history of music that’s been beamed out over the radio.

Cloak

Made with Brian Moore, Jay Schaul, and Mike Kavouras

Cloak was an app that used location data from your social networks to let you know where all your friends were so you never had to run into that special someone. Think of it as the antisocial network.

On Equal Pay Day, we created a livestream where we called out the gender wage gap by physically removing 21% off of products with a giant waterjet machine.

Troll the NSA

Troll the NSA

Made with Mike Lacher and Richard Baker (yep, my dad)

Built and launched in the wake of Snowden’s spying revelations, Troll the NSA was a call to arms to get people to jam up the state surveillance apparatus by collectively sending an innocuous sounding letter filled with possible terror “keywords” to each other. In under 24 hours, millions of emails were sent and Anonymous used it to bring down NSA.gov in a DDOS attack.

We searched YouTube for every instance of fans using blink-182 songs in videos without permission. But instead of removing the content for breaching copyright, we rewarded them by using the footage in blink’s latest music video—all without telling them first.

Buzzfeed

Helped build and grow the creative department of this company whose stock you should not buy. We had some fun hires and a couple of interesting brand integrations beyond those awful listicle things.

Charity Bribes

Charity Bribes

Made with Burks Spencer

Charity Bribes was a short-lived crowdsourcing experiment to see if we could goad a celebrity into doing something awesome if they knew a decent amount of money would go to a charity, but only if they did it. Kind of like Kickstarter for shenaningans. The first bribe was for Larry David to join Twitter with a potential $10,000 donation to the NRDC. The money was raised, the press got his attention, and he actually created an account. His first and only tweet to this day was about us.
